I prefer kits because they come with almost everything needed to make a beautiful decoration.  The Winter Wonderland Sleigh Felt Kit by Bucilla is no exception.  It includes the stamped felt for easy piece matching, the cotton floss for stitching, the chenille sticks for added decoration and of course, the instructions.

One hint that might help, when I assemble my felt kits, I put the pieces together with fabric craft glue and stitch after it drys.  That step is certainly not necessary, but I have found it helps me hold the pieces together while working on the project.  Plus, should the threads break during the years of display and use, the centerpiece will not fall apart before you can repair the stitches.

The overall finished size is 13 1/2" x 7 1/4" x 10".

This will definitely be a decoration you will not be in a hurry to put away.  Even through it bears the traditional Christmas colors of red and green, it is still a lovely wintry scene.

The beaded ornaments are made by pinning the red snowflake shaped beads to the Styrofoam ornament form with the white head pins.  I use craft glue on each pin to make the decorations permanent.  I have found that the pins can, and will pull lose from the Styrofoam form over the years.  If they are glued in place, they won't pull out and get lost.

Lovers kissing under the mistletoe has been a part of Christmas for as long as I can remember.  Actually, there are a lot of references in movies made before I was born to being kissed under the mistletoe, or what happens when you stand under the mistletoe in a doorway.  If you believe the classic Christmas movies, hanging the mistletoe was actually a common tradition.

Bead & sequin ornament kits certainly make creating a beautiful Christmas ornament easy.  The Pearls on Ice bead and sequin ornament kit is an excellent example of Christmas ornaments that are pretty, and easy to make.

Everyone loves Santa's workshop.  Even adults enjoy stepping into that fantastical world of fun, toys and enchantment.  We can create our own shop right in our own homes with the Santa's Workshop Crochet book.

As you can see, there are twelve crochet designs in this one book to construct your very own Christmas wonderland.  I especially love the crochet animals and figures.  Children can handle them and love on these decorative crocheted pieces. 

Some of these patterns do recommend parts that could become choking hazards.  If you know you will have small children in your home this Christmas, I recommend using French Knots that could not be pulled off and simply leaving off any embellishments like the jingle bells.  It won't harm the design to omit them and making the figures so they can be handled by anyone, will truly make them treasures to everyone.  They could easily become a part of the best memories of Christmases past.

Normally I only recommend books that have patterns that cross all skill levels.  However, I have made an exception in this case.  All of these patterns have an "intermediate" skill level rating, but they are just so adorable!  

This book would make a lovely gift suggestion for an avid crocheter.  Perhaps, if you give the book, you will be blessed with a return gift of a finished set.

Christmas Ornaments & Craft Kits

There are so many fabulous and beautiful Christmas craft kits available that it is not always easy to choose just one or which Christmas decorations to make first.

A Crochet Christmas ~ Crochet Pattern Book
